Magical contrasts

“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”

Brené Brown

One of the biggest misconception about spirituality is that people are living in a unicorn/rainbow world. No offence to that, I love it but also do not find it accurate.

This idea is debunked quite often, and today I wanted to share a bit more about this.

My first years in spirituality were maybe the most chaotic years of my life.

I was just trying to settle into a new country. Nothing in my life was making sense any more. I, genuinely, think that the idea of living in a peaceful, ideal, unicorny world comes from that : The calling to something different when nothing else makes sense.

This deep hunger for something better but also the practices which are the most efficient, like meditation, sharing circles seem in appearance sweet but not much else, almost naive.

Do not be mistaken, spirituality is so much deeper, more raw, more violent than that.

If you are at the beginning of your spiritual path, you will know this for sure : What you got into was definitely not what you were expecting.

Spoiler alert : It gets deeper.

Spoiler alert 2 : You do not have to walk alone.

That is why for me, sharing circles have been such a massive help. That made me realise I was not the only one in the storm.

As I witnessed in others what I could not observe in myself, I also realise everything will pass : the sadness, anger, joy... The winter, the summer... All of it...

Life is such a gorgeous ocean. You can dive as much or as little as you can, but once you come back to the surface, you will have a new awareness of what is beneath your feet.

One thing that particularly opened my heart to this was a teaching from one of my mentors. She was telling us about energy bubbles we create around ourselves to protect our energy. Pointing the fact that when you dive into spirituality all may seem contradictory. Why would you want to open yourself to the “good” stuff, but keep away the “bad” stuff.

If you open, you open.

You open to it all.

Without judgement and/or expectations.

Spirituality, for me, means that I am opening to whatever experience has to come, trusting universe but also trusting in my own ability to deal whatever comes as gently, lovingly as I can.

So, to you reading this post : Well done for doing the work.

This is not an easy path, yet you decided to walk it.

What a warrior, what a light…

With love and a giggle
